"Add water and stir is a painting based on a true incident in my childhood. My friend Jane Grimes and I were assigned the task of squeezing the lemons for the neighborhood summer lemonade stand. The older kids showed Jane how you could get more juice out of a lemon if you rolled it between your palms before squeezing. Jane passed this trick onto me. Being too small to be effective with the palm squeezing method I did the next best thing."
